What is the difference between a base setting and a boost setting?

The base setting provides continuous, controlled air renewal. The boost, or higher, setting is used temporarily when a sensor or a chosen control strategy determines that extra ventilation is needed. In a well-designed control system, the transition happens gradually, so the system does not keep switching abruptly on and off.
