The municipality of Augsburg has chosen decentralized ventilation with Fresh-r for the extensive renovation of the municipal office building with 400 offices.
The office, originally built in concrete in the 1970s, was stripped down. Due to fire safety and space-saving considerations, no vertical penetration of floor slabs or pipe networks was desired. The air supply and exhaust ducts were not allowed to be visible on the facade. Additionally, the larger meeting rooms needed to be ventilated individually.
In every office, a Fresh-r On-the-Wall is mounted on the walls between the windows. It provides extra ventilation when people are present. Meeting rooms have multiple Fresh-r units. Heat or coolness is recovered. On the outside, the air exhaust and supply are invisibly integrated into the window frames behind the façade cladding. The investments are significantly lower than with a central system, partly due to savings on fire prevention.
