Student housing in Boston, United States
Large university with student housing on campus, where a major renovation has taken place. The complex consists of 4 and 5 floors with a total of approximately 250 rooms, which have been renewed both inside and outside. Each room is equipped with a customized Fresh-r solution.
The challenge
Within the complex, there were no possibilities for vertical ventilation ducts through the floors. At the same time, there was a need for central monitoring and the ability to remotely switch off systems. The solution had to be robust, able to withstand intensive use by students, and at the same time cost-efficient compared to alternatives.
The solution
Each room is equipped with its own Fresh-r unit. A custom casing has been developed for this, featuring a lockable door and a slanted top, so that nothing can be placed on it and the unit is well protected. Displays and user interface are not visible . The units are connected to the building management system for monitoring air quality and operation and can be centrally switched off if desired. The external grills are designed in the style and color of the building, ensuring the whole fits aesthetically with the architecture.
