No. For normal, balanced ventilation with a Fresh-r Compac, a window trickle vent is not the primary air supply. But for an appliance that independently extracts air from the home to the outside — such as a wood stove without its own outdoor air supply, or an extractor hood venting outside — a separate supply provision can indeed be necessary.
